Pitch Session
Thank you to Marc Hernandez for joining us - he gave it to us straight - and
requested 6 screenplays.
Our Pitch Session with Graham Taylor, was a resounding success, with 6
scripts being requested from TWC Members.
We had another successful Online Pitch Session with agent David
Boxerbaum of Metropolitan Talent Agency. David not only took pitches from our TWC
Members, but he gave feedback and offered insight on each and every script idea. We'll keep
you posted on the scripts he requested...
Our Pitch Session with a Dimension Films Executive resulted in 6 screenplays
requested! Our September Online Pitch Session with top ICM agents, resulted
in 5 screenplays being requested from members!
The first Pitch Session was with Dan Halsted, producer of Virgin Suicides,
Any Given Sunday, and Nixon to name a few and he OPTIONED a screenplay that
he requested in our TWC Pitch Session!
Here's what some of our pitchers in those sessions had to say:
"Lesley, Thank you for providing an opportunity to pitch to the VP of development at a major studio. The guest initially stated that they were shying away from projects in my script's genre, but my pitch came through as "a fun idea". She was able to get the tone of the script from the pitch, which resulted in a request to read the screenplay. I think this speaks volumes about the quality of the pitch workshop."

"Appreciated the effort that you put into tonight's venture. Quite interesting to see what concepts grabbed their attention. I did like the format...immediate pass or interest."

"Thank you for the opportunity to pitch to Brian Sher. That is a chance I
would never have had without your Pitch class. Thank you for insisting that
my script was a thriller and not a film noir. I had to rewrite the script,
but I will forever be grateful to your genius when it comes to recognizing
genre."

"I'd like to thank you for the opportunity to pitch the other night. You
offer some really great learning experiences through Writer's Channel, and
this was no exception. Looking forward to the next pitch session.."

"This is really a great idea, much more effective than logline/synopsis
query letter pitching; plus it puts us out-of-towners in a better light than
query letter writers."

"The pitch session was great. Dan was so helpful in explaining what he felt
from each pitch. He really clarified what intriqued him or didn't about the
pitches."

"Every time I do something like this, I learn more! Yay!"

"Thanks again for making this on-line pitch opportunity happen. Of course
I'm disappointed that he's not interested, but his comments were very
helpful (and I realize how subjective the process is... someone else might
really like the idea)"
